Biography
Catherine Mapp (b. 1994 in Miami, FL) is a Baltimore-based muralist and fiber artist whose work explores the intersections of culture, memory, music, education, safety, and transformation in public space. She holds a BFA and a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA).
She serves as a Staff Associate with Baltimore City Public Schools' Office of Family and Community Engagement, is an Educator at the Baltimore Museum of Art, and works with the Anne Arundel County Health Department's Gun Violence Prevention division — bringing a community-centered lens to every project.
Catherine's murals are rooted in deep community engagement: listening sessions, historical research, and collaborative design processes that ensure each wall tells the story of the people who live around it. Recent projects include "Pumphrey: Past, Present and Future," a community-driven mural commissioned by the Anne Arundel County Gun Violence Intervention Program, and garden bed murals at John Ruhrah Elementary/Middle School and Beechfield Elementary.
She is a teaching artist and certified K-12 arts educator with experience in BCPS classrooms and community programs, and is currently expanding into commissioned murals for developers, CDCs, and cultural institutions across Baltimore.
